2024 - HEPIUS Campus| Winning competition
Winning Competition
lequang-architects (LAB) won a competition to design a Medical University campus of 110.000 sqm in Vietnam. The campus will hold 2500 students and contain a general Hospital with 200 patient rooms. Our proposal focuses on creating a ‘third platform’ that links all programming into a backbone where students, doctors, and patients can communicate within several Rain gardens. It accelerates the performing abilities of the whole complex and becomes a sustainable solution for a hi-density building model.
2023 - DNF FACTORY IN DONG NAI| HOLCIM AWARDS 2023
Holcim Awards 2023
𝐥𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠-𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 amongst 20 architectural offices awarded the Holcim Global Awards for the DNF factory design project in Dong Nai. The Holcim Award is known as the most prestigious sustainable architecture award in the World, thereby providing great encouragement to us in our practice and research.
This year's awards event was held in Venice, Italy. We are very honored to be able to stand on the same stage with famous architecture firms here. Appearing with the Holcim Foundation is a step forward for our young team and we appreciate it so much.
2023 - Quang Ninh General Hospital
3rd Prize - competition | in collaboration with SCA and LJ-Group
We won 3rd prize in the Quang Ninh general hospital design competition (There was no 1st Prize). With this design, we accelerate the programming science innovation of general hospitals in Vietnam, driving them towards a sustainable built environment that reduces energy use and maximizes landscape, creating the micro-climate for all diagnostic, therapy & patient rooms.
This hospital would be one of the largest hospitals in Vietnam with 1500 patient beds.
2023 - Architecture Masterprize Awards 2023!
A House in Quang Nam| Award winning project
Mr. Nhan's land is an inherited piece of land belonging to three households, instead of cutting it into 3 linear tube houses, we propose a spiral structure so that the space blocks roll together, and revolve around a central garden conceived as a microclimate solution. In that mix, there exists space for four families to live together. In the end, it's more than a house, it's a space for people to live together, wake up and cook together, talk and care for children together. Besides, it still thoroughly solves the land ownership mentality and internal conflicts of a multi-generation family.
Let's have a look on this tiny project!
2023 - 'Amai-mizu' Village
Project in Nha Be, Vietnam
'Amai-mizu' will be an agriculture-village masterplan that we will build in Nha Be. It is based on our study of the agriculture landscape and land-ownership mentality.
Looking forward!
2022 - ARCHITECTURE MASTERPRIZE 2022 !!!
Award winning project
lequang-architects (Berlin)
We won the AMP 2022 architecture award with the concept project of Binhdinh Green Waves museum. This is one of the key national competition projects that we participate in with our landscape partner LJ-Group and technical partner SCA.
In this project, we tried to provide a proposal from urban planning to programming solutions for museums. Its aim is to create a mixture of landscape and display area that not only caters to museum-goers but also a public space that engages people in the city, a truly 'living museum' that creates an ecosystem around it.
The project, named the best concept project, will be on display at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain during the AMP 2022 awards ceremony program.

Masterplan Competition - 2nd round
Stuttgart | Germany
𝗹𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗴-𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 and 𝗟𝗝-𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 did 2nd round competition in Backnang West near Stuttgart.
The project focused on new development in the post-industrial zone with programming study and mobility system.
In the end of the day, we tried to have diverse building typologies in one area. The new development creates a new sense of land ownership. It links all landowners into one scenario where they can share profit based on a different program that relates to themselves.
The master plan developed a series of building scales in order to keep the historical value of the site as an industrial heritage of IBA27.
The project is exhibited in Backnang till the end of May 2021.

2020 - VIEN villa
Built Project Vientiane, Laos Our first built project in Laos. The Villa will be built for a doctor's family in Vientiane, it shows how we deal with the tropical climate in South East Asia by passive design solution. There is a big veranda to be created in order to extend the usage of the ground level but on another hand cooling down the temperature with the season wind flowing through the pool on the east side. |
2020 - LAVENDER HCMC
Built Project HCMC, Vietnam The project shows a sensitive approach to renovation building in large cities, where privacy, infrastructure quality, and density problems are encountered. Finally, we propose a facade with many curvy folding edges, which allows natural light to enter but also ensures privacy for the inner cosmetic treatment space. On another hand, it to be contrasted with the chaos of the surrounding context. The building has been built and to be operated in July 2020 |
2020 - SAN
Built Project in HanoI Vietnam San is a project in the countryside of Hanoi. In this project, we tried to use the passive design method by 3 main walls on the free - groundfloor plan. The movement of the walls creates a rhythm between indoor space and outdoor space. On another hand, it plays the role of guiding axis for programming distribution. |
2020 - POOL/ passive design in tropical climate area
Look at some current housing projects of lequang-architect in Hanoi & HCMC Vietnam We have different approaches for the pool in housing project in Hanoi and HCMC because the building always lacks the site area and building density regulation. So it could be a pool-deck or an elevated pool? sky pool or ground pool? Most of the time, we use the pool as a buffer zone. It works as a passive design to adapt to the tropical climate and to be an internal visual focus area. |

2019 - SILENT IMMIGRANT(S)
Competition_Shortlisted Proposal Paris, France We hypothesized the random selection of a volume of 8x8x8m from the sea (number “888” in many Cultures, represents for the term of “Infinity”). This volume is called “Anonymous Ocean” The appearance of this imaginary volume creates metaphors for viewers about a seemingly impossible reality. Even so, this installation allows people to go deep into its heart and discover what really can happen within an arbitrary mass of the sea (in this case, we show how people poisoned the ocean with our plastic products which are represented by plastic bottles collected on site) The instantaneous movement of a strange ocean to a familiar human’s urban context is a method that we have tried to create a representation feature of the installation artwork. The project will be published in architecture magazine, exhibition by YAC. |
2019 - LANDSCAPE IN THE MIST(*)
Competition_3rd Prize
Kemeri, Latvia
The Project works on the boundary line between "Landscape and the Mist" as linking space where the scaffolding structure is conceived as space of community become a social space. It is not just an ObservatioTower for looking to the Park, on the other hand, it sends a message to people and the landscape about a free world, not divided by human knowledge and their curiosity.
With the understanding about the site plan and its humidity, the beauty of the architecture structure could be integrated into the mist here in the morning and it emphasizes the poetic image of Kemeri park in different senses.
Due to the sensitive nature of the environment surrounding, we propose the main structure will be made by scaffolding, this is the flexible material which could be borrow from the other site and it does not require any heavy machinery or large-scale excavation to take place.
When planning the Project designs, we also considered the high soil humidity, which makes walking on it directly all but impossible, therefore the scaffolding will be used as the platform of foodbridge and in the end, the wooden deck will be implemented on top. This solution creates a series of foodbridges to access to the Observation tower.

So the main challenge that the city is confronted with today when dealing with the renewal of central area of Kriens (Andrizt Area), how to create an attractive local center whereby the physical buildings themselves form the catalyst for the social integration. Whereby bottom-up initiatives from every individual dweller are encouraged.Whereby the masterplan of this old factory become self-reliant and self-organising and whereby buildings creates the connection between them and between people in the city.
In the end of the day, we recognized that the most important feature to make this public area is belong to the density of population & density of construction and its openable feature to public space. In term of revedelopment process, the density and the flow of people will be two main factors for breaking this “massive block” in Andrizt Area.

2018 - LIVING IN THE SHADOW OF THE WALL
Typology Study in Berlin Published in Academic paper Berlin, Germany The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, the physical Wall is no longer present but an invisible Wall exists between East Berlin and West Berlin. Today, from East to West, people can still recognize the implicit changes around the Wall. These are differences in typology, in urban density and in the habits of residents. The Wall is still there, it is not present in the political power corridors; instead, it is present in every street corner, it visible in every small kitchen in the new housing on the West as well as the old apartment in the East. 2017 - MOSUL SCAFFOLDING CITY(*)
Wining competition - 2nd Prize
Mosul, Iraq
Post-War City
A Post-war Camp becomes distinct from all the usual forms of human housing. It is not a completely disturbed society as it is in refugee camps because people in post-war camps have known the city where they born. However, it is not the same as any social housing system because its social foundations and urban infrastructure may have been ruined.
Therefore Mosul Post-war Camp needs to have flexibility, easy-to-change elements that are (im)permanent in shape but permanent in their ability to change. For the case of Mosul, this system should be able to infect, spread and expand. In the process, the camp itself would undertake the task of cleaning and rearranging the ruined parts of the city during the war. Thanks to this idea, we proposed a flexible model, which is not only a residence of the people, but also helps them to reform and repair their city systematically because the peoples here are the ones who understand their city better than anyone.

The first projecting part of overcoming the dichotomy between geometry and organic that is stated in Islamic architecture.A dichotomy in which the higher mental-construction geometry-imposed with authority to the chaos of the inhospitable and irreducible nature. Overcoming this dichotomy means using geometry to sort programs, applications, things with a method. But it also means leaving space for freedom and surprise, incorporating chance. We propose a project in which the organic and mutable nature finds its place in the geometric order. The geometry does not produce an inert space, but also guarantees the conditions for the organic develop, live, reproduce and die, in a supportive environment. Oasis, gardens, patios, planters ... is the way in which our culture has tried to preserve life against the aggressions (wind, sun, drought ...). Our building will to do the same.
The building is recognized as a closed universe inside a mud-brick wall. This fundamental Islamic design element of architectural tradition, in which the wall is not an element ... is an opaque veil that suggests an infinite dimension in which the eye is lost, the light is screened, the stars are drawn and the imagination takes paths that are never the same.

The project goes beyond romantic visions of nature as something independent of human beings. It is a reflection on the role of man in transforming their environment and nature as a concept that originates in specific cultural contexts. Being located above one of the largest human intervention in nature, the project focuses on showing not only the beauty of nature but also about the human desire for power and control and intervene to nature. We live in an age with so much nonlinearity occurs simultaneously at many different locations. We are also in a turbulent era, partly due to the transition between the two millennia. If someone put a question: “What is the Contemporary now ?” Certainly, we can not give a simple answer. Ernst Gombrich, in his book Art Story 3 said: “There is no art, only artists.” Therefore, nothing is too much when we follow him, saying: “No contemporary, just what is happening at present.” Imagine this building great as one entity. What would you do to change it? Reform from the inside to outside, or a simple operation? I think the key point of the contemporary, that it must stick with history. Back to the 54 Jefferson, observing its main atrium, I have to imagine a simple operation: we cut out the elements of it and re-release the atrium ceiling to create a main void, it will be great and full of light. This void will become the stories seemed all conflicts, between the present and the past, between classic and contemporary. Read more |

2011-RED RIVER'S SEASONAL FLOOD, R= 1000
Hanoi, Vietnam
Year 2011
Location Hanoi, Vietnam Context Future arc comeptition - international competition Area 6000 sqm Program link land, sustainable residential, market in the river Team Le Quang, Hoang Phuong Lien Status Citation The Red River flows from southwestern China through northern Vietnam to the Gulf of Tonkin. Once reaching the lowlands near Viet Tri city, the river and its distributaries spread out to form the Red River Delta. The reddish-brown heavily silt-laden water gives the river its name. The annual silt volume is approximately 100 million tons or about 1.5kg/m3.Thus, the delta is a major agricultural area of Vietnam with vast area devoted to rice. However, Red River is also notorious for its violent floods with its seasonally wide volume fluctuations. The local life, therefore, is badly damaged. That’s why it is essential that the land is protected, but yet there is no empirical solution. read more |
