2024 - HEPIUS Campus| Winning competition Winning Competition lequang-architects (LAB) won a competition to design a Medical University campus of 110.000 sqm in Vietnam. The campus will hold 2500 students and contain a general Hospital with 200 patient rooms. Our proposal focuses on creating a ‘third platform’ that links all programming into a backbone where students, doctors, and patients can communicate within several Rain gardens. It accelerates the performing abilities of the whole complex and becomes a sustainable solution for a hi-density building model. |
2023 - Holcim Award! Holcim Awards 2023 Architects Le Quang and Vo Huyen Nhu represent the design team to receive the Holcim Awards 2023. 𝐥𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐠-𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 amongst 20 architectural offices awarded the Holcim Global Awards for the DNF factory design project in Dong Nai. The Holcim Award is known as the most prestigious sustainable architecture award in the World, thereby providing great encouragement to us in our practice and research. This year's awards event was held in Venice, Italy. We are very honored to be able to stand on the same stage with famous architecture firms here. Appearing with the Holcim Foundation is a step forward for our young team and we appreciate it so much. |
2023 - Quang Ninh General Hospital 3rd Prize - competition We won 3rd prize in the Quang Ninh general hospital design competition (There was no 1st Prize). With this design, we accelerate the programming science innovation of general hospitals in Vietnam, driving them towards a sustainable built environment that reduces energy use and maximizes landscape, creating the micro-climate for all diagnostic, therapy & patient rooms. This hospital would be one of the largest hospitals in Vietnam with 1500 patient beds. |
2023 - Architecture Masterprize Awards 2023! A House in Quang Nam| Award winning project Mr. Nhan's land is an inherited piece of land belonging to three households, instead of cutting it into 3 linear tube houses, we propose a spiral structure so that the space blocks roll together, and revolve around a central garden conceived as a microclimate solution. In that mix, there exists space for four families to live together. In the end, it's more than a house, it's a space for people to live together, wake up and cook together, talk and care for children together. Besides, it still thoroughly solves the land ownership mentality and internal conflicts of a multi-generation family. |
2022 - AMP award-giving ceremony Guggenheim museum Bilbao We attended the AMP award-giving ceremony for our project 'Greenwave Museum' at the famous Guggenheim Bilbao. This is one of the key national competition projects that we participate in with our landscape partner LJ-Group and technical partner SCA. In this project, we tried to provide a proposal from urban planning to programming solutions for museums. Its aim is to create a mixture of landscape and display area that not only caters to museum-goers but also a public space that engages people in the city, a truly 'living museum' that creates an ecosystem around it. The project, named the best concept project, will be on display at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in Spain during the AMP 2022 awards ceremony program. Read more about this Award |

2021 - Snail-shell House in Hoian
Built Project Hoian | Vietnam Our project JKH in Hoian has completed. This house is not only a small house for four people to live in, it is also a place where the birds, the spiders or insects find shelter in the foliage. Furthermore, it is a mini-community center where the host works with her environmental activist group and meets with neighbors to build community bonds as she wished when moving from Saigon - a crowded city with 12 million people to retreat in this countryside village. 2021 - Backnang West New development
Masterplan Competition - 2nd round Stuttgart | Germany 𝗹𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗴-𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 and 𝗟𝗝-𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 did 2nd round competition in Backnang West near Stuttgart. The project focused on new development in the post-industrial zone with programming study and mobility system. In the end of the day, we tried to have diverse building typologies in one area. The new development creates a new sense of land ownership. It links all landowners into one scenario where they can share profit based on a different program that relates to themselves. The master plan developed a series of building scales in order to keep the historical value of the site as an industrial heritage of IBA27. The project is exhibited in Backnang till the end of May 2021. |
2021 - Twin Cities
Built Project & Urban planning Quy Nhon | Vietnam The first urban project we have won in Vietnam. We considered this is a good case to implemented our design system for project management there. The project will be invested about 500 Mio USD for the first phase (2020-2025), the main study based on the local biological system and the images of the ''Cham Tower'' - UNESCO heritage of the city. |
2020 - INNS LOOP
Competition Proposal Innsbruck| Austria The City Loop| Project proposal in Austria. Our project focuses on providing a new scenario for programming in an old town of a city in Austria. The simple intervention can activate the current program of the site and on the other side it creating the chances for the new program in the future. The intervention in the city, would not have to replace all the legacy we have, it just helps the city performs better with the current infrastructure. |
2020 - Mekong Retreat
Built Project & Masterplan Angiang| Vietnam lequang-architect(s) developed masterplan & built project in Mekong Delta. It is another practice for ''Active Envelope'' in scale ''L''. The Site located on the river bank. We proposed programming going on the perimeter of the site and creating a hidden water garden inside. The landscape design will take into account the variation of water level in the dry season and the rainy season. That feature to be considered as the identity of this area. |
2020 - RESILIENCE PROJECT
Competition_2nd round Germany lequang-architect(s) in collaboration with LJA went to the 2nd round of resilience project competition in Germany. In this round, the competition also has the participation of big names such as Herzog & de Meuron, MVRDV. This is the first time we have participated in such a restricted competition project. It will be a good chance for us to have a project study in-depth. |
2020 - ACH Villa Thao Dien
Built Project HCMC| Vietnam The ACH project in Thao Dien to be built on a site of nearly 1000 sqm. In this project, the outdoor terrace courtyards are formed and scattered from the bottom to the top. Today, the high-end value of luxury housing projects has shifted. The appearance of outdoor spaces is one of the goals we pursue. It provides a diverse living quality located beyond the walls. |
2020 - LAVENDER HCMC
Built Project HCMC, Vietnam The project shows a sensitive approach to renovation building in large cities, where privacy, infrastructure quality, and density problems are encountered. Finally, we propose a facade with many curvy folding edges, which allows natural light to enter but also ensures privacy for the inner cosmetic treatment space. On another hand, it to be contrasted with the chaos of the surrounding context. The building has been built and to be operated in July 2020 |
2020 - POOL/ passive design in tropical climate area
Look at some current housing projects of lequang-architect in Hanoi & HCMC Vietnam We have different approaches for the pool in housing project in Hanoi and HCMC because the building always lacks the site area and building density regulation. So it could be a pool-deck or an elevated pool? sky pool or ground pool? Most of the time, we use the pool as a buffer zone. It works as a passive design to adapt to the tropical climate and to be an internal visual focus area. |
2020 - SAN
Built Project in HanoI Vietnam San is a project in the countryside of Hanoi. In this project, we tried to use the passive design method by 3 main walls on the free - groundfloor plan. The movement of the walls creates a rhythm between indoor space and outdoor space. On another hand, it plays the role of guiding axis for programming distribution. |
2019 - ACTIVE ENVELOPE (M)
Proposal - in collaboration with Sardarch Architettura Venice, Italy The project creates a big fluid curtain that connects all the pavilion, throughout the transparency, we create this filter preserving the authenticity and whenever the visitor pass through to discover a new space, created by adding a new domestic dimension in front of the pavillions |
2019 - ACTIVE ENVELOPE (S)
Built Project Hoi An, Vietnam Our first built project in Hoi An, Vietnam. The selected project our study of "Active Envelope (S)". The building will be built in a seaside village located in the middle of Vietnam. This small house will act as the home of a family, on another hand, it will also provide space for community activities. There are some unspecified- spaces scattered throughout the house, which will be developed and used by users for certain purposes depending on the situation in which it is occupied. |
2019 - SILENT IMMIGRANT(S)
Competition_Shortlisted Proposal Paris, France We hypothesized the random selection of a volume of 8x8x8m from the sea (number “888” in many Cultures, represents for the term of “Infinity”). This volume is called “Anonymous Ocean” The appearance of this imaginary volume creates metaphors for viewers about a seemingly impossible reality. Even so, this installation allows people to go deep into its heart and discover what really can happen within an arbitrary mass of the sea (in this case, we show how people poisoned the ocean with our plastic products which are represented by plastic bottles collected on site) The instantaneous movement of a strange ocean to a familiar human’s urban context is a method that we have tried to create a representation feature of the installation artwork. The project will be published in architecture magazine, exhibition by YAC. |
2019 - LANDSCAPE IN THE MIST(*)
Competition_3rd Prize Kemeri, Latvia The Project works on the boundary line between "Landscape and the Mist" as linking space where the scaffolding structure is conceived as space of community become a social space. It is not just an Observation Tower for looking to the Park, on the other hand, it sends a message to people and the landscape about a free world, not divided by human knowledge and their curiosity. With the understanding about the site plan and its humidity, the beauty of the architecture structure could be integrated into the mist here in the morning and it emphasizes the poetic image of Kemeri park in different senses. Official announcement in OPENGAP |
2019 - TNV_Private Gallery
Affaire Project_Under construction HCMC, Vietnam TNV is a private exhibition house in conjunction with housing. The project will be built on the riverside and has a panoramic view of nature. The opening and closing of three spatial will mix with the artworks in a specific proportion. In the end, the result is going to be a series of display situations. It does not only create a showcase for the artworks of the gallery's owner but also emphasizes the role of the ''real-life paintings'' which are captured through large windows. This building will be the first built-up project of lequang-architect in HCMC, Vietnam. |
2018 - QBH_Dormitory
Lequang-architect & COMMA studio Affaire Project_Under construction Quang Binh, Vietnam QBH is the research project for Dormitory building in Quang Binh province, Vietnam. The project focuses on building programming and building performing to be adapted with the specific local climate and the construction feasibility. In the end, we provided a typology for the programming mixture with natural light, natural ventilation and using local knowledge to create a sustainable process for the build environment. The construction work will be finished in 2019. |
2018 - Kriens_Post Industrial Development
Lequang-architect Competition_ Kriens, Switzerland Today, Kriens faces three core challenges to overcome: the demolition of plants from the industrial period. So the main challenge that the city is confronted with today when dealing with the renewal of central area of Kriens (Andrizt Area), how to create an attractive local center whereby the physical buildings themselves form the catalyst for the social integration. Whereby bottom-up initiatives from every individual dweller are encouraged.Whereby the masterplan of this old factory become self-reliant and self-organising and whereby buildings creates the connection between them and between people in the city. In the end of the day, we recognized that the most important feature to make this public area is belong to the density of population & density of construction and its openable feature to public space. In term of revedelopment process, the density and the flow of people will be two main factors for breaking this “massive block” in Andrizt Area. |
2018 - LIVING IN THE SHADOW OF THE WALL
Typology Study in Berlin Published in Spain Berlin, Germany The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, the physical Wall is no longer present but an invisible Wall exists between East Berlin and West Berlin. Today, from East to West, people can still recognize the implicit changes around the Wall. These are differences in typology, in urban density and in the habits of residents. The Wall is still there, it is not present in the political power corridors; instead, it is present in every street corner, it visible in every small kitchen in the new housing on the West as well as the old apartment in the East. |
2018 - SCAFFOLD-LIGHT(*)
Honorable Mention - Construction Negotiation Cyprus Iconic Lighthouse $20'000 The Scaffolding Lighthouse wants to give a political message throughout the connection as a value for the contemporary society against the idea of a division between countries. It expressed this idea by a “Transparent Structure” in term of physical structure and the boundaries between the between states as the Mediterranean sea that divides Europe from developing countries. 2017 - MOSUL SCAFFOLDING CITY(*)
Winning competition - 2nd Prize Mosul, Iraq Post-War City A Post-war Camp becomes distinct from all the usual forms of human housing. It is not a completely disturbed society as it is in refugee camps because people in post-war camps have known the city where they born. However, it is not the same as any social housing system because its social foundations and urban infrastructure may have been ruined. Therefore Mosul Post-war Camp needs to have flexibility, easy-to-change elements that are (in)permanent in shape but permanent in their ability to change. For the case of Mosul, this system should be able to infect, spread and expand. In the process, the camp itself would undertake the task of cleaning and rearranging the ruined parts of the city during the war. Thanks to this idea, we proposed a flexible model, which is not only a residence of the people but also helps them to reform and repair their city systematically because the peoples here are the ones who understand their city better than anyone. 2017 - 21 TTF - The SANCTUARY in Collaboration with COMMA studio
Affaire Project Hanoi, Vietnam Going in a series of 05 projects in the heritage area of Hanoi 36 Streets Old Quarter, the 21TTF project was a study of the spatial characteristics of the Tube Houses which were built during the Indochina Architecture period. The building is located on Trang Tien street, belong to the main axis from Grand Theater. The changes of history in the twentieth century have given the building a unique life and value. Along with the new generation of life after the Vietnamese War, the buildings here have been affected until this day. The design team has researched and proposed linking three houses horizontally to create a new space that preserves all inherent structures of the heritage. The new space was designed to cater to contemporary art exhibitions and performances combined with a high-end fashion store. The Tube Houses in Hanoi Old Quarter, like the elderly, reflect a part of the city's history and bring in personal flair. The approach to the project has created a new life within these structures, contributing to the strengthening of the good values that time and events of history have brought to them. The design team hoped that the project would be a "small corner" of cultural exchanges for people in Hanoi. readmore |
2017 - SERRA DA ESTRELA(*)
Winning competition - 3rd Prize Portugal Inspiration Hotel Dramatic landscape has created from the sudden change of the natural elements. It could be a sudden change in length, depth or a sudden change of materials such as water, rock, negative and positive... People from time to time immemorial fascinated inherently by these factors, in the most beautiful dreams, people have dreamed of dramatic changes and utopia illusion. We approached this projects based on the concerns about water, stone, and humans on the land. The granite cliffs sliding down to the calm water's edge has aroused the first imagination about a secret valley which is surrounded by water and stone - the existing natural elements.
